Probably was little used in it's 'working life' as instruments used by hand were replaced by new fangled machinery, after all, there's no call for flat irons in the household nowadays and warming pans are replaced by rubber HWT's, not many kettles sit on the trivet by the fire, all signs of progress in the ever rapidly modernising world!

Well, what is this really for..Mike probably not for knifes to sharpen? You are right about the rapid change to modernising world. It is getting really frightening. Read the next one about the new regulations of herbal medicine in the UK and the whole EU.

I hope this address will work. Cheers,

Zsuzsanna

It was for sharpening blades, like knives, scissors, shears and other ols farm implements, the handle has been removed for safety reasons as it now stands as an ornamental feature, slowly falling into disrepair.

A very sad thing
