Scribbly gum doodle of a noodle eater. (Go on, try and say that ten times over!) This effect is caused by an insect tunneling along under the bark which then flakes off to reveal the patterns ( or in this case, a rather clever portrait of someone) beneath.

Sue this is very interesting. He even has an ear. Great catch!

Oh, look, you've even caught the gum as the bubble burst. The gum is on the ear too!

Great capture!

I just heard the news about that brave Aussie who's only 16 but she's heading out "to become the youngest person to sail solo and unassisted around the world." Go Jessica Watson!

(I checked to make sure she wasn't one of yours. I will be holding my breath anyway.)

:)) This is a funny figure indeed!

Thanks Mardri, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this fellow plain as day on the tree. My sister in law has walked past this very tree on many occasions and had not spotted it. I must just be at the right height.

Thank you, Jean! I felt rather sorry for Jessica Watson as she ran into a tanker (or the other way around) when she was sailing from one port to another and the media made a banquet of it, never mind a meal. She's definitely not one of mine. I wrap them up in cotton wool too much to ever encourage such courageous activities.

HI Kamalyn, thanks!

Hi Ritva, glad you like this piece of natural artwork. :)

Very best wishes to you all and have a wonderful Sunday.

Very cool, I prefer the before picture, the face is very clear to me.

What a fun little bug you have there ... but not very artistic. I am sure you do not have pointy ears, furrowed brow, and a frown, dear Susan! :)
