excellent composition and what a wonderful view I live in the desert and love the water scenes but I love it here also some of the most beautiful country here to! thanks for sharing your gallery regards ~RettaJo
A lovely way to capture the feel of the village as well as the vista, Jim! Very nicely framed - your usual attention to composition. If I am reading the map correctly, it looks as though low tide brings out the sand flats - ? It must be a beautiful area. Kind regards, alicia
The appearance of this pretty village has changed little in 300years...
Many years ago, the original inhabitants were poor fishermen. When property prices increased they were displaced by rich people wishing to escape the noisy cities. A few properties were modified in a most unsympathetic manner, causing an outcry from villagers who cared..
Thankfully, there are very strict controls regarding the repair and maintenance of the buildings! A planning committee oversees every project and property owners are obliged by law to apply for permission before doing any work which could affect the external, and in some cases, the internal appearance.
Every aspect of the building is under strict surveillance..No tile, stone brick, window, door, chimney nor even the paint colour can be altered or modified without approval from the committee.
This is a very desirable place in which to live and the wealthy owners have taken great care to follow the principles of preservation!!
Jelegon~~~I am honoured and humbled by your kind comment...thank you ;>)
luciano passos cruz----I am delighted you like this photo ;>)
RettaJo~~~I am very interested to read your thoughts of the desert...I could never imagine living away from the sea, from lush green meadows and refreshing sea breezes...I say this only because I once visited Death Valley in the USA...I took one step outside the air conditioned vehicle and was instantly overcome by the intense dry heat..:>) Maybe your desert is different :>)
pietgazz...Piero Your friendly visit and pleasant comment is much appreciated
aisavery...That is most observant of you Alicia ;>) Yes, the tide does reveal the beach... although there is a good covering of golden sand, the underlying base is in fact hard shale/slate... fossilized alluvial clay to be accurate...It is deposited in layers and is very rich in fossils of every description ammonites are easily found all around the area!! Children love picking away at the rocks, and under supervision they are permitted to explore the shale cliffs...This has its dangers..obviously!
The rock pools at low water are alive with all manner of sea life, typical of shoreline creatures. Crabs, sea annenomies, fish, shrimps, shellfish and of course bladderrack seaweed..the one that pops when you squeeze it! A children's paradise ;>)
