HI sadogashima!, storm coming soon!.Greetings Miquel Àngel

Thank you Olivier and Miquel. Olivier, you taught me new cloud language - thank you! (I googled lots of lenticulars!) Miquel, there had been a storm, very big snow storm etc, the day before which passed - this time maybe lucky!

There's an Observatory here - Omarama means 'Place of Light' and they've hosted the World Gliding Championships here...

"Benmore Peak Observatory is sited on privately-owned land at the summit plateau. The facility has instruments and structures for astronomy and meteorology, from the peak down to the 1,830 m (6,002 ft) level. It is the highest altitude observatory in the Southern Hemisphere outside of Antarctica and the Andes of South America. BPO has been selected as the site for the new 4.4 meter KOYA telescope."

darkness wins the race every evening. but its glory lasts only for a few hours :)

sadogashima, on October 14, said:

So true Pom'... we really drove for the next 2-3 hours across the mountains after this, and every little bit of light seemed to be eked out minute by minute... The light takes a long time to disappear in the South. A quite dramatic disappearance that evening, made me feel very glad to be alive :) Merci, for visiting. I'll visit yours soon, too :))

Hi Tony Reid - it definitely caught my eye. Looked ominous. I can see why the gliders swirl around this part of the country! Hope you are well, Jacqui
