Hello Ritva, doesn't this remind you of your beautiful birch lined street in Finland? I'm so pleased you enjoyed the birches in Norway. Thank you so much for the Y* too, it will hang on the birch trees to make up for the time, all too soon, when these golden leaves fall :))

Good morning Paul, this isn't really your kind of photo, so I am really pleased you opened it! Thank you for the lovely compliment, it is much appreciated :))

Dear Billy, I'm so pleased you liked this one - thank you! The birch trees aren't quite as high as the "Flat Iron" though ;-)

barboon, thank you for your visit and kind words. I'm so pleased that you liked these Norwegian birch trees :)))

Dear John, I really must aplogise for the stress I have caused you this evening, and by the length of your comment it must have been quite considerable ;-) But take heart, the winter will come and go, and your wetsuit will be at the ready for April, when you take off from the land into the sea once more :)) Enjoy the land days though - every day is a precious gift :))

Greetings to you both, Amelia

Good morning to you too, Amelia!

The weather is great the last few days but soon to be gloomy & wet again. Autumn is almost gone here but has been strange with some early color and some leaves still green. But mostly is fading away.

I am slowly catching up with your site. It is good that things are slowing down a bit. Hope you have a great day!

Amelia Royan on October 20, 2009

It does get hectic sometimes JF. I won't be posting any photos for a bit until I catch up :)))

So beautiful!Aspen, or Common Aspen or Eurasian Aspen (Populus tremula) in a magnificent autumn colour! There also excist a very nice column shaped selection (populus tremula 'Erecta'). A very slender growing type.

Greetings, Erik

Good evening Erik - thank you as always for putting me right on identification. I have been calling these birches for the last few days :)))

I'm so glad you liked them, and at least I did not put the wrong name in the title! :))

Erik, I am learning quiet a lot of Dutch as I read comments and replies - but of course I don't know what it sounds like, and can hardly pick out anything that is said in Dutch when I fly KLM :))

Groetjes, Amelia
