Hiya Paula...the guy was a true gent, constantly striving to raise the profile of the RNLI..

Billy...thanks..I was glad to reach shelter after waiting almost an hour on the cliff top for this...it was possible to lean heavily into that Northerly wind ;>)

ACRONYM Hi Jim, not really peaceful, but beautiful autumn, too! You really feel the cold creeping into your bones ~ stormy greetings from Maja

Jim this is another of those shot that you get given the chance to capture only once in your life. speaks of the new season coming in the silent fog and the chill windy look in the landscape not the sunny summer of the first shots. reminds me of my shot from the top looking down at lion rock thats for sure. brilliant. Jim pardon my ignorance but 'who' please for us downunders steve

As for the shot,, the tribute sail-past was for a guy I knew who was well respected in the town.. He died too young..of natural causes ;>(

gor.maja... that's a fine compliment Maya,,and I am honoured for all your thoughtful words, your visits and kind appraisal.. thank you so much ;.)#

Best wishes to you all ;.)

Great photo Jim, and a lovely tribute to the young man who died. The misty day and the wild seas seem fitting for an occasion such as this. I can see you weren't the only one standing out here to get this fabulous photo, but I can bet my bottom dollar that this is the only one on Pan!!

Cheers, Amelia

Hi! Amelia!

The town has a long, proud history of master mariners going back to the time of Cook and later, Scoresby!

The masters of both the QM2 and QE2 are local men!

The RNLI is held in very high esteem, as it is in all coastal towns! So it was felt with much sorrow when the RNLI gent passed away . I thought that this was a fitting tribute!

The QM2 can be seen in Micha's gallery HERE

Thanks for stopping by ;>)
