This old WWII bomb shelter was outside our barracks at Rivers Barracks, Giessen, Germany. They use to call our post "The Zoo".
Interesting shot, Barnzie3.
When were you in Giessen? I was at Rhein Main AB from 1989 to 1994.
I was in Giessen from Feb 1980 to Sep 1983. It was funny when I seen your name as we had a SGT Roundtree in our firing battery in Giessen. I was also in Ludwigsburg from 1986-1988. You brought back a lot of good memories. I'm going to have to hunt for some old photos now in my boxes that have been put away for years! Do you remember a small town in southern Germany where they did a lot of Christmas stores and displays? I have photos of that town, but can't seem to remember the name. I know it had a wall all around the town. Anyways, take care and I hope to see more of your pics!
hey whats happening, i was stationed at rivers barracks i.e. the zoo, from nov. 1981 to aug. 1983 and will never forget it. i have a whole book of photos that i will post soon, i worked part time at the movie theatre, partied and played guitar at the rendeverous club, and had more fun at the zoo, drinking licher beer, and applekorn then you could ever imagine. it was great to see the picture how the zoo looks in 2010, it brought back so many memories of the times, me and army brothers had back in those days. great job guys, i would really like to share some stories about the zoo. prost!!!
