US Capitol is one of the most impressive buildings in Washington DC. It feels European.

miki84: Are you calling my photograph cursed? Or is the "cursed land" the building, the city, the country, or something else? Do you write this on all the photos or just this on? Please do explain.

This is the first time I have viewed your photos, Joe and I am blown away! You always loved photography and I am wowed at your accomplishments. What amazing world travels you have had! I love this photo and also adore the one of the bicycle on the beach (red, white and blue color scheme). I am in awe! Amy

Amy Jane! That's you! I have always wondered if someone I know would stumble onto any of my photos. If people do, they seldom tell me! I was replying to your email when you sent this and the next comment. Now I'll write this public message: Thank you very much. I am blown away by the quality of a lot of the photos here, and I wish I could, and had time to, find more of my favorites to post. I like that on this site I can share photos that I'm proud of photographically speaking, but that I can show off geographically speaking. This particular photo is one I took way back in 1978. You may have seen an enlargement before. Many of my photos are from my digital era (post 2003) or already scanned. I hope you saw the "favourites" button at the bottom where my personal favorites are. I'm glad also you like the bicycle picture. Did you notice that they accepted the photo of the bike in the South Pacific for Google Earth, but not this one, taken in France! There goes my symmetry.

I'm Serbian and i say it's shame on your country when i see this...that's all your Flag don't represent freedom !!
Joe Gattuso, on January 29, 2009, said:
Other than that, how do you like the photo? It's a picture of a building with a flag on it. Why did you pick this one to complain about the USA? Has everything been perfect under the Serbian flag? You seem to have a lot of anger. And so early in the morning too! I recommend that you look at some photos of pastoral places without flags and mellow out.

Yes i see some of your pics, I have one question do you know why do you call THE WHITE HOUSE?
Joe Gattuso, on January 31, 2009, said:
This is not the White House, but the Capitol building. Or do you mean that other house in some of my pix, which is not the "White House" either? I called that house "the White House" because a family with the name "White" used to live there!! (And it is painted white too!)

What is it like this statue on Capitol and what is its name if somebody know? It is a duty for school, for my son...
Joe Gattuso, on March 23, 2009, said:
The statue on the very top is named the "Statue of Freedom." It has an interesting history. It was created before America's civil war and ironically, while named "freedom," was cast by a slave. I don't have a close-up photo handy, but you can find a lot of things and more photos through a Google search, including this USA Today article, and Wikipedia.

Thanks, Ellimaus. Sometimes getting in close brings out things that one would otherwise overlook. Greetings and peace!
