Very good picture of an interesting construction, Michele. It seems to be very old and built completely by hand. it appears to be circular and rather like a South American pyramid. The title did not explain what it is, but your photo has intrigued me. Theolfa

This is a specchia, mysterious building of ancient age already existent in the Vth century BC, when the Messapians, the ancient inhabitants of this area, were in war against the spartan colony of Taras. Messapians have used specchie like points of observation and communication and have integrated they in a huge and complex system of defense. We don't know anyway if were the Messapians the builder of the specchie or some mysteryous people of prehistory, precedent the appearance in southern Apulia of the Messapians (XIIIth century BC).
