"Esta ermida mandada erigir, em honra da virgem, com o auxilio de devotos, por Thome Antonio, natural de Campanhã, por haver escapado do naufragio accontecido na sua vinda do Brazil no anno de 1625, foi reedificada a expensas de Joaquim Marques da Nova, natural desta vila no anno de 1866."
