Hi Anette,

Is this some kind of place where you can get a coffee and a bun. If it is I think I would rather have lunch at Skarra Brae. :)

Regards

Steven

This is inside a deserted croft which had been turned in the little museum I talked about. Considering that people lived like that about hundred years from now the progress they had made in the 5000 years since the days of Skara Brae indeed seems very small. ;o)

Thanks a lot for your visit and interest Steven!

Best wishes, Anette

Now this is very interesting to see, but if we only image how was life in that time! The work was extremely hard. In the same time, I am not sure they would like to move to the present time (if such possibility would be possible Everybody know how to live in his own time).

Interesting and nice photo!! I like it! Greetings, Liz

Very wise remark Olga transferring people from these times to our modern world certainly would be an unbearable shock. On the other hands it's still amazing to see that people 5000 years ago (in the prehistoric village of Skara Brae I mentioned above) already had had the same kind of standard.

Thank you very much for your nice comment Liz I am very happy you like it!

My best regards to you both, Anette

Nice shot. Looks like the old time about 100 years ago! One time my father said about his childhood when they used to have their food with wooden spoons and dishes! even their heater was a big container full of wood fired, a deep layer of smoke was above them!!

Bello questo angolo rustico Anette !! Ciao, Paolo.

Oh ja, ein warmer Tee wär' jetzt auch was Feines Manfred. Mir wird nämlich langsam ein wenig frisch hier, ist wohl Zeit, daß ich allmählich ins Bett komme. :o)

Viele Grüße, Anette

This is what it is indeed sababoy. When this croft was finally abandoned they left it in this old fashioned state as a museum. And I very well can imagine they had to deal a lot with smoke!

Happy you like it Paolo! :o)

My best wishes to you both, Anette

It's so amazing how the ancient people of Orkney could create such an interesting lifestyle in that remote part of the world. A very good record and thanks for sharing, Anette.

Happy you like the arrangement Ria. But I think it only looks cosy on a nice day as this must have been pretty cold in wintertime.

Many greetings, Anette
