Hey, I'm first! This is so charming Norrel! What a great city you live in!

Howdy, Nawitka! Yes, my city provides lots of great photo opportunities. Within the old medieval city centre (the 'ring' of canals that shows on the satellite image) you could take pictures like this on every corner.
The name "Muurhuizen" in the title is the name of this street. It means "houses on the wall". The older houses were part of the ancient wall around the city, newer houses (like the white 17th century houses in this picture, were built replacing the old wall.

Lovely light, too, with those long shadows of an afternoon. Beautiful. Cheers :)

Thanks. Ritva. I should go more often into town with my camera.

I agree :)

And I agree with Nawitka and Ritva! When I first looked at this shot, I didn't have time to leave a comment. Now that you've explained the title, it's even more interesting, and has inspired me to zoom way in and have a little walk all around the main canal ring. Really interesting!

It's a great shot, Norrel. Both for the fact that it's a pretty picture, but it's a good Panoramio shot, showing the location well. Double win!

Very nice photo and explanation Norrel. I love scenes like this.

It's beautiful. It's the kind of place I'd dream of retiring too, and in that retirement I'd write a fine romance novel and everybody would live happily ever after as the children play at fencing with each other outside and everybody has avgolemono soup.

LOL - that's a very specific retirement dream...
Great photo, Norrel. Amersfoort is a lovely city.
Cheers, Lisa

I don't know about you, Lisa, but my dreams always seem to go in slow motion, so the specifics are memorable!

You could travel the main canal ring by boat as well, kamalyn. I've done that once in the 19 years that I live in this city.
There was too much nonsense on my first page, not1word, so I had to upload some decent Panoramio shots or I would have been banned.
I should have become a teacher, Margot, or a city guide, and guiding tourists in my town. Well, on Panoramio, we all are some kind of 'tourist guide', I think.
Please let me know when your book is in print, whoelius. I could read it when I have trouble to fall asleep.
Thanks for your visit to my town, Lisa. Don't forget to tip the guide ;>)
If you dream faster, you could have more dreams per hour, whoelius, and write more retirement novels.

it's good to see you off your ass, but I still don't see any work being done.

No, this is the view I have when I look out of my window, Tery.
