Walana Buddha Statue (Walana Samadi Budu Pilimaya)
2007/August: Much thanks to Dr. Ananda W.P. Guruge (Director of the International Academy of Buddhism in California) and to Mr. Amila Tennakoon (Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Systems (Pvt) Ltd in Sri Lanka) for helping to locate the true position of this Buddha statue on the map.
Last not least, special thanks to my patient mail friend Anura Guruge (son of Dr. Ananda Guruge) for keeping in touch in this matter.
This statue was built by the famous sculptor Mani from Madras (India).

Wow, thanks for posting now the photos. The statue looks still the same as 32 years ago - maybe the colour of the painting over changed a bit to bronze. I'm very happy to see the statue again here: photo1 photo2 photo3 photo4 photo5.
