Very pretty dear Hazel, and thank you for sending in the warmth! Why is it called a "Broekie Lace" cottage? Is it because of the fancy ironwork?

Warm greetings, Amelia

Hi there Amelia dear friend!! Thanks for your visit and kind words.

Yes - "Broekie Lace" - is a South Africanism for the fancy ironwork (even available in plastic strips nowadays), which I've always thought to be rather quaint, a term used even by professional designers.

It was our daughter's birthday so we joined her at home in her sunny "bed of roses" ... ;D

Warm wishes, Hazel

Theolfa ...

I am so happy that you all enjoyed the sun on the roses in our daughter's little cottage garden.

Mira - you always say such lovely things - thank you for your visit and for warming me with your lovely comment!

Rafael - you should not be feeling too much cold in that beautiful area of Catalonia - we saw it on a TV Travelog and it is stunning!! Thank you for visiting and for your lovely comments.

Theolfa - I can't even begin to imagine what Minus 5C must feel like - but phew! it must be pretty chilly. Keep warm and enjoy all the cosy aspects a warm hearth has to offer!! Go well, my friend!

Warm wishes to you all, Hazel

What a lovely rose garden, Hazel! It's really a beautiful sight for us living in the Northern hemisphere and going through cold, wet and dark November days at the moment! And the worst is yet to come! Hope you have a wonderful summer down in South Africa!:) Best wishes, Anne

Hello Hazel, you are right really winter weather is not so bad in our Mediterranean cost and so different land inside, where continental weather is.

Greetings. Rafael.

No extra warmth garnered from this photo, Hazel. Just a bit of jealousy!
