is that a donkey????or a gargoil????CREEEEEEEEEEPY!

Joe Gattuso on November 21, 2007

Coincidentally, just the other day I uploaded a daytime picture of the same fountain, and it's a . . . uh . . . I can't tell! It looks less creepy, but I can't tell if it's an angel or a woman with fire shoulders or what. BTW, also coincidentally I work right across the street from that other statue you call creepy, the General Sherman statue. But I didn't take that pic.

Nice shot..what camera are you using?

Joe Gattuso on July 22, 2008

Thank you. I took this photo in 2004 with a Canon S400, also named "Elph." A couple of months later I broke that camera and replaced it with an S500, the same camera but 5 megapixels instead of 4. Did you know that Panoramio shows camera information for digital photos under Photo Details/Extra Information? It says for one of your photos that you used a "6300," but it doesn't say what brand.

U have nice shots really...I am not a professional photographer, that 6300 means Nokia mobile phone the way you take photos in baghdad for places we never seen

Joe Gattuso on September 8, 2008

Hello again, glasszone33. Sometimes the best shots are taken with a small camera, like on a mobile phone, and quickly, before the guards see you and tell you "no pictures!" (as almost happened here).

Great shot!

How many cities/governorates in Iraq have you been to, Joe?

stevester1200 on May 26, 2010

I have another picture of it from 2008 when I was deployed there. I looks a little rundown now... I would love to learn the history of this fountain if anyone knows it. I heard it was of a woman crying and incidently her hands are cut off? I am not sure though.

Joe Gattuso on May 29, 2010

stevester1200 -- Whatever I may have heard about the history of the fountain, I've forgotten! You can see the statue better in the photo I took in the daytime. Are you going to post your 2008 photo?

Late reply to Kar7as -- looks like I never answerd you. I have only been to two areas of Iraq. Both places are under the "Iraq" tag on this page.
