Olá Peter, sabia que no Algarve, quem possuir uma propriedade como esta, tem a garantia de poder construir nova moradia no mesmo local? Abraço, Eduardo.

Beautiful capture of this lovely golden ruin amongst all the greenery. Was it up against a small hill or had that been part of the building?

This was our 11th visit to Alvor during 13 years, so I think we like the place. I even take great pleasure in learning the language!

We had passed this ruin on a number of occasions without really noticing it, but this time it seemed to stand out. Behind is a section of cliff and so I think it must have been a small dwelling in its own right. A huge area of surrounding land is owned by the large Pestana Hotel Group and so I presume they must have left it as it was when they acquired the land.

Our fellow Portuguese friend from Panoramio, Eduardo above, tells me that in the Algarve if you own the land on which such a building is situated, you have the right to construct a new dwelling.

Perhaps he may enlighten us on the possible use of such a dwelling.

All the Best Peter

What a wonderful opportunity you have to return again and again. Also you go at a very nice time of the year. I am impressed that you are able to learn the language. That makes the trips that much more enjoyable.

I suppose if they leave the building there they can eventually build there if they wants & also it adds to the local beauty.

I will keep an eye out to see if Eduardo gives any extra info.

Thanks for all the info! JF
