This was a fun day. If you saw the Sandy Hook Light ,then you must have seen the Twin Lights at Navasink on the way in. If not, you'll have to come back.
I discovered that there is an annual series of lighthouse chases up and down the East Coast, and I did what's called the New Jersey Challenge a couple of years ago.
It was a whole weekend event, and the goal was to visit 11 of New Jersey's accessible lighthouses in the two day timeframe. You can see from my posts that I accomplished that, and I look forward to catching other state challenges in the future. It's a great way to get yourself into parts of the country that are "off the beaten path" so to speak.
No Hank, I can't remember seeing that lighthouse. Maybe we drived by this ... :-/
We visited friends in Morristown and they went to Sandy Hook with us to go swimming in the Atlantic Ocean and than we visited the lighthouse in Sandy Hook
It's likely that, coming form Morristown, you came in from the west, and the Twin Lights would have been over your right shoulder when you crossed the little bridge which took you up to Sandy Hook.
This photo isn't great because I didn't have a wide enough andle lens to do the site justice when I was there. If you zoom in on the provided aerial photo with my post you can see the two lights, and how they sit overlooking the bay, and Sandy Hook.
Welcome to New Jersey, Kojak. Morristown is a great and historic place too. I hope you enjoyed it. Cheers,
Thanks Arthur. I should probably change the tag to "Lighthouses (plural)." That would follow a decision I just made on "Windows." I'm glad you found this to remind me.
