The bottom right of the picture shows the entrance to the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The canal was started in 1826 and took 6 years to build. It is the reason why Ottawa (originally called Bytown) was founded. For more info, just search Rideau Canal. The building with the pointy rooftops is the Chateau Laurier Hotel (1912) which has its own fascinating history.
