Ask Nawitka !!! Or her cousin Stoneboat :)

Howdy Guy if I remember correctly these are wind breaks from the wind that funnels down 8th Avenue Mall due to the skyscrapers.

Good recognition Bits

Nawitka has a great shot. Soho mentions them being windbreaks in the comment section. They get a lot of air time on CBC's Wild Roses TV show.

Well, I heard that a gazebo-type thing had been planned and these four corner supports were built before the final approvals ... or before the wind tunnels tests were done, LOL! or something. And then the gazebo roof was not allowed, but they left these anyway.

My shot is from inside the Plus-15, so I'm 15 feet above the ground. The Plus-15s are Calgary overhead tunnels connecting two buildings so one does not have to venture out into the wind. The whole downtown core is connected with a web of Plus-15s.

Hi Nawitka I was wondering how you got that different angle. I favour walking at street level except when it's blizzardy.
