The modern building on the left was built in 1954 as the Central Branch YMCA, back in the days when you really could stay at the YMCA (as it says in the song). In fact, I did stay here during a visit to Milwaukee in the 1980s. The building was sold to Marquette University in 1993 and is now a residence hall known as Straz Tower.

The church on the right is Calvary Presbyterian, built in 1870.
