HEY!!!! I like this photo. My grandfather was the chief engineer on site during the construction of this building. It was his last job before being hit by the great depression. There was no more work for him in the USA so he had to sell apples from a cart.

Marilyn Whiteley on July 5, 2011

Very late thanks, nik, for the honors!

And r.w., thank you for all your visit and especially thanks for sharing the story. So many people suffered during those hard times! But isn't the building glorious!!

Hi Marilyn it is nice to enjoy your Art Deco shots in the Group and this is a fabulous example.

It was sad to read of R.W's Granddad and I wonder if we are hurtling towards another depression right now ~ I hope not!

Love it! I'm a little young for the train days, but I remember as a kid shopping there when it was a mall. Then the property owner at the time came close to tearing it down before it became the museum. I got to tour the restoration project too. There are too many fascinating things to count inside. This would have been the crime of the century if it was leveled. Thank you for sharing such an iconic piece of architecture and Cincinnati history.

Thanks, uclynch, for sharing the memories and bit of history. It would have been a terrible loss if this had been torn down!

Thanks, too, Anton and ELMUNT for your visits and comments.

Greetings from Canada, Marilyn
