Hi Mahdi, thank you. Left and Right images are taken with some horizontal distance between them. (Just like the distance between our eyes.) So if you succeed feeding these images in to your eyes, it allows view of the scene with depth which we refer as 3D. My work is all X-3D, which requires crossing of the eyes to create and overlapping images in the brain. It is also known as stereo view. Regards from Detroit, MI. Volkan

Volkan You said to take the left and right images with some horizontal distance between them. I was wondering, do you make the space by simply turning your head a little or do you step over a step and take the picture from there? Or does that make a difference? I have tried to do this 3D imaging just by copying and pasting the same photo side by side and it worked fairly well, but you don't get quite the same 3D effect.

Thank you for all of your instructions in this interesting type of photography.

Greetings, Cathy

Hi Cathy, I am glad to hear that you are already gifted with X-3D perception. So, congratulations :) If you think that we can see the world 3D because we have two eyeballs with some horizontal distance (5-8cm or 2-3inches) between them. They see differently and that's what we need to do as we are shooting two images to construct X-3D pairs. (To me, using the same image twice is not the right approach) Once you have the sense of the technique, you'll see that there is no single rule for this shift distance but I usually take the second shot after I move right about half a step in nature scenes. Let me know if you'd need more explanation of the distance issues any further. Looking forward to see your first X-3Ds :) Thank you and Good Luck, Volkan

Thank you Volkan I understand now, that just using the same image twice is not the right approach, so now that you have given me some idea on how to properly approach this, I am going to go and and give it a try. I will let you know if I need any more instruction.

Thanks, Cathy

Dear Cathy, the biggest difficulty is accepting how easy it is to create amazing 3D experience on your own with no additional resources :)

Although it is not required to have the StereoPhoto Maker to make X-3D, it is a great utility for balancing/aligning both side of the pair and viewing them with concurrent zooming and panning.

I wish you make your first true 3D pairs very soon :) Cheers, Volkan
