This is not a desert! It is the edge of a very wide sand bank / beach between the sea on the far left and the head of the St Lucia lagoon on the right (not shown and beyond the trees). The crocodiles may be found in the lagoon! The crocodiles would normally be found further upstream away from the beach. No doubt the photographer, Seb-Lyon, wanted to feature the sign in an apparently innocuous or safe location! A warning for non-locals to be on the look out!! Best wishes, John Forbes
