Lovely rainy evening scene!

Cal Kimola Brown on December 15, 2009

You sure are getting some fantastic night shots who and you sure managed to capture the rain in this one. Think I'll take dry and cold.

Laurel211 on December 15, 2009

This portrays the real Vancouver. Isn't Robson one of the main streets? You can almost feel the wind and rain here. It's just a fantastic shot.

whoelius on December 16, 2009

Alloooo, Fai, Cal and Laurel. Cheers :D

Hopefully this'll get reviewed by somebody competent on its second round, eh? Clearly the two people here are anonymous and the photo depicts a rainy Vancouver!

whoelius on December 16, 2009

Sorry, Laurel.

Yes, Robson Street is probably what we'd consider the spine of Downtown Vancouver, or at least it's the street the city uses for stylistic display; and West Georgia is probably more the commercial centre and Davie is probably the cultural centre.

not1word on December 16, 2009

Not just a little bit of rain, either. I thought that South Whoelius Avenue was considered the cultural center?

diannemcd on December 16, 2009

The rain gives the photo a great effect. Great job, no wonder you are getting sore throats and colds.

Norrel on December 17, 2009

Perfect picture, whoelius! I could catch a cold by just looking at this picture.

someGuyinmasset on December 17, 2009

Hey lookit how high the rain is bouncing off the street.

Ritva Astikainen on December 17, 2009

Very inventive Whoelius I would never have thought of standing outside in the pouring rain to take a photograph.

You are a fella who takes his art seriously!

mainufo on December 19, 2009

That's a great composition, Whoelius. It looks like stormy weather with heavy rain. Astonishingly even with ISO 3200 the picture is relatively sharp. "Best of"! And a Yellow Star for the photographer with so many interesting and different pictures in his gallery.

Greetings from Frankfurt to Vancouver, mainufo.

ƤōƝƓ on December 19, 2009

People hate it but I miss it, whoelius. In tropical country, we usually see heavy downpour and thunder storm, not blowing rain like this one. This is considered "light rain" to us. :)

Hello whoelius Nice rainy evening shot from Vancouver!!! Well done!!!

Best Winter greetings from Finland :-)))))))

Thanks very much, not1word, Norrel, Guy, Ritva, Spence, Konny, Jethro, mainufo, Worapong, Markus and Séverine, for the views and comments, and the best of and the star from mainufo.

I was happy with how this turned out. I set up the camera at the crossing lights and set out to cross with everybody else, before stopping and snapping about a quarter of the way through, though I was a bit ambitious with the shutter speed! I'm glad I got the lady in motion blur in the bottom right. It makes Vancouver look as if it's in a rush to get out of the rain!

david g Johnson on December 22, 2009

Yes.I agree,,a good picture made better and "brought to life" by the motion blur..Great !!,DJ.UK.

Harry Taggart on December 26, 2009

Fantastic shot! Great exposure! but where,s the beautiful big blanket of (Almost) virgin snow? Very difficult to have a Merry Christmas in these conditions, but as we Scots can assure you it is no barrier to a Happy New Year, and you make sure you have one, cheers scaly from glasgow.
