More than just a colorful spot in the foothills.
This is a hallowed place, the favorite hang-out of my sister Clara and her husband Murray. She died of lymphoma in Oct 2005 and he died of congestive heart failure in Nov 2009, having let himself go and effectively dying of a broken heart. Clara wanted us to take her here, to sit on the porch of their hunting camp in her final hours, but we thought it might worsen her condition. Perhaps, in retrospect, we should have granted her wish.
So cherished was it to them that they willed the scene be carved into the granite of their headstone.
