Looking SW from park overlook next to Hula Hut restaurant. SouthEast (lower) end of Lake Austin where it transitions to Town Lake through downtown. This string of lakes is the Colorado river (not the same as the Colorado river in Ariz/Utah). Quiet Town Lake at the low end in downtown is primarily kayaks/sculls/canoes only. Often glassy Lake Austin upstream is excellent for waterskiing and wakeboarding. Lake Travis even farther upstream is much, much larger with miles of coves and open water good for sailing/windsurfing as well as motorcraft of all kinds.
