Laurel this is an absolutely stunning shot... I love the setting with the slender trees (any idea of what kind it is?) and the Canada Jay BO and Y*, Peter

Laurel211 on January 16, 2010

Hi Peter. We are very near the alpine in this picture, and the trees get more slender up higher, I think they are fir trees. Thanks so much for the BO and YS, and for visiting my gallery.

thor☼odin™ on January 17, 2010

Thank you so much for the extra info Laurel Then it's the Subalpine Fir (Abies lasiocarpa) from its all time best side :). Best wishes, Peter

ps. will there be a geocode attached to this stunner sometime??? :)))

Hi Peter, I've mapped it the best I can, just made my best guess, there are only trails, no roads, and it's a little hard to tell where I was, but this is the general area. It's a cross country ski area called Sovereign Lake Nordic Center. They have a web site, but it's very poor, no pictures. All the best, Laurel.
