Thnaks Daniela and Syl.
Yes these houses are th traditional houses of that area in Madeira Island, but here remanis only a few of them (4 or 5) for touristic reasons.
Tanks again to you two for your kind words.
The islands always look wonderful with their colourful colour scheme. The white really pops with the green glass/healthy plants too.
The roofs remind me of pictures I've seen of thatched roofs in England (except there they are very, very rare now....they've lost the people with the knowledge of how to make them).
Thanks a lot for both your comments Pam?
These houses are really nice, but only a few are still there and mainly for the "photo".
ONe of them is a Touristic INformation Point!
I hope whoever refreshes the roofs then will teach another generation how to do it. In North America we've also lost the master brickman (as has England who sent so many of them here in the early part of the 20th century). So many wonderful skills were lost with modernization.

Thanks Kojak, These houses are only used for touristic reasons, but yes they are beautifull, and kind of a landmark in Madeira Island.
Cheers,

Hi Tomoaki Ueda
Maybe most of them are the same houses, but anyway there are some more on this area of the island.
Some more new information on roof buildings,
YEs it was the Jesuits Fathers that demand Japan on the 16th century, along of course with sailors.

I hope so Pam.
These typical constructions of the Island of the Madeira are very beautiful. The covering in stem gives him much beauty. Greetings from Portugal
