Four of the 150 year old cottages immediately at the bottom of the path have, sadly, been demolished because the foundations have been eroded by poorly drained land. In a matter hours, the patios, sheds and garden furniture at the front of these dwellings slipped down a 10 metre, almost vertical drop into the back yards of the houses below. The owners and general public were refused access to the footpath and dwellings which were abandoned within a few minutes of the land-slip. It took a group of demolition workers 4 weeks to remove the cottages, brick by brick. If you read my comments in THIS LINK it is possible to identify the cottages in question!
