I'm delighted that you were the first to stop by steve111, especially since you linked me to my all time favourite group---THE EAGLES~~, and how fitting too!!

The Eagles connection was not in my mind when I wrote down the title and maybe this is what HELL looks like when it freezes over!! Maybe the two are the same ;>))

Very effective shot, Jim. It certainly captures a mood!

Picture with interesting mood. Sad ,cold, but after all nice.

It is difficult to imagine just how perishingly cold it was on this high cliff top, amongst the headstones, with the biting Arctic wind off the sea..The wind chill factor put the temperature at around minus twenty C!!

As I down loaded the images to my computer for post editing, it occurred to me that this image was well suited to the stark harshness of monochrome.. tweaking the parameters to their limits, I produced this deathly black and white image, thus capturing the mood that you both describe in your comments!! Am I just weird, or what??

Marilyn Whiteley

Kind regards to you both for your visit and thoughtful comment ;>)

Funny title. impressive shot.

Did anyone confirm the booking?

Cheers, Jeff

Jim Evans (AXOTA) on January 2, 2010

Hello Jeff good to see you my friend ;>)

The old town is under a blanket of snow and the Arctic polar air sits coldly over our is looking more like Iceland by the day!!

Never the less, the tourists flock in, they seem to love it..unfortunately we have no Ski Slopes in this part of Yorkshire! Nobody (excuse the pun) told them that things were going to get this bad ;>)

Best wishes Jeff

...with a very nice view!

Theolfa on January 3, 2010

It's a terrific B&W composition, Jim, with a very bleak atmosphere. The gravestones appear to be identical at first, and the fact that they're all black and 'faceless' definitely deserves the somewhat ironic title. I'm convinced Hell is frozen and that's why I don't want to end up there ;D Theolfa

This makes me quiver Jim! I didn't know it was this "grim up north" ;) Best wishes, Fai

Jim I don't know what to say! Your picture bring to my mind sad association! But why! The life is not so easy, of course and often the dead surprise us, but I want to have more happiness surprises! Yes, the picture is excellent and I hope THEY are feeling good here on the seaside! May be this is part of paradise! Who know!
