Maverick75 Hi! Celso..I can see the link here but the mythological abutments were far grander than these ageing structures..They have stood the test of time despite constant pounding from the volatile North Sea..However, such is their disrepair, the are in danger of being breached..Millions of ££££ are required to fix them..This will happen soon I hope ;>) Your visit and good comment is much appreciated ;>)

Hi Jim
I have enjoyed another trip around your back yard. I came to this photo and something seemed familiar.
Some photos that I had scanned from a trip up your way in Sep 1989 had appeared on the start of a later film. I wondered where it was, and now I know!
Best wishes Peter

Many thanks for the visit and comments much appreciated. I was in Whitby yesterday and saw a floating platform doing some sort of work just outside the harbour any idea what they are working on? Cheers Ian.

My humble apologies for this late reply guys!
NICEFORO NIEPCE~~~I'm delighted you stole these lights here Nicefor..I noted that you are an avid collector of lighthouses..In fact, I think you have the largest collection in Panoramio..
pedrocut---Many thanks for the enjoyable link here Peter..Now, the fishing fleet is virtually dead and the harbour is empty!
ian1949~~~The platform you referred to is deployed to carry out important repairs on the East pier extension which is crumbling away at its southern end! I note that several steel piles have been driven into the rock. Eventually, these piles will form the basis of a reinforced concrete plinth which will be completed during the summer of 2011!
Scarulu16~~~That's great Scarulu..you must be relieved to get safely back home to your own pad, put your feet up and chill out for a few hours! When are you due back on the road and where next?
To you all, I express my sincere gratitude for your visits, compliments and endorsements!
Kind regards!
