Winter is the best time to capture the facade of the Load of Fun gallery on North Avenue. The history of this building has lots of unanswered questions, but it may have started as four two-story structures built sometime between 1906 and 1914. For most of its early life the building housed businesses related to automobiles, as did many of the buildings in this neighborhood. But from 1978 to 2005 it was the home of Lombard Office Furniture, whose aluminum signage was deconstructed to spell LO--A-D OF---- FU-N-----.
