At Kasiguncu, one may turn to drive up the Napu Valley. During the 2002 inter-religious conflict more than 150 Hindu shrines along this road were destroyed, as well as lives. However, it is a beautiful valley, and it provides an alternative route between the plateau around Danau Poso (Lake Poso) and the coast. The valley is the home to many farming families that resettled here from Bali. Access to Lore Lindu National Park and ancient megalithic sites is also possible, but it is both the hospitality of wonderful people and colorful cultures that makes it all special for the visitor.

Dear Andri,

Selemat sore!

I am pleased that I could take you home with this photo. Where are you living now?

I travelled to Palu, Parigi, Poso and Tentena in 2007, and it was one of the significant journeys of my life, for I was close to and working with local people in each place.

Ian
