In Mason's Parochial Survey (1814-1819) this ringfort is referred to as "The Danish Fort" i.e. Viking invasion era. Kilnagalliagh Nunnery Church ruin & Cemetery are a few hundred metres to the east (rectangular & surrounded by a hedge on GoogleMaps). There are perhaps 50 - 60,000 of these circular, 20 metre diameter, 'ringforts' in Ireland, most visible on GoogleMaps. Coxs & Scales lived here from the 1690s.
