(((Billy))) I want to thank you for your support in this exceedingly inflammatory matter and your way of handling it (of which I am incapable of right now).

Here is another thread that I think should be watched. I may be right out to lunch regarding it's ownership (of which I'm having a hard time believing). The buildings that were in good shape are the ones that I believe someone (re the person that I referred to in the forum) purchased just a couple of years ago. If, however, the poster is truly the owner I do owe an apology (though after the untrue accusations posted ...)

Thankfully my son posted in one of the threads, that the accusations were posted in, and gave me a heads up.

I hope to return to posting soon but life, outside of here, has had it's ups and downs lately.

Hi Pam. I was more than happy to add my support & was pleased to see other users doing the same. It saddens me to see how much this situation is effecting you as I know how much you enjoy this site.

I hope things do improve, on Panormio & in your private life, so you can get back to posting as you are missed.

Thanks Billy it hurts to be publicly humiliated for unjust cause!

I want to add this posting here as well since it takes too long to retype:

"I understand their feelings We also own farm land here and have had vandalism and theft occur. The vandalism is usually from some bored local youth and the theft is from antique hunters and craft people looking for aged (silvered) wood and stair railings and balusters to put their bird houses on. I'm positive none of the above are carrying a camera to record their visit. I'm a big fan of common sense.

I personally would have a hard time believing that someone who took pictures and posted them did the damage. In reality picture taking of Ghost Towns and grain elevators has become very popular here. Any abandoned town we've pulled into usually has at the least an open post office (for the rural residents) or at least one remaining resident who is happy to tell us the history of their town and where to go for a good picture (ie the church is brick, the hospital is architecturally unique for the prairies, etc).

Prairie people are, on the whole, very friendly and welcoming (we've only run into one person, at a different location, that wasn't but even he, after seeing the pictures on our camera, didn't have a problem with our presence). The lady that we spoke to in Robsart was very nice and welcoming (the majority really do like meeting visitors).

The town of Scotsguard, near Robsart, has two farmers that built their new homes there. They have cleaned up the town, moved and placed objects, and generally have made the town a photographer's paradise. The vehicles are positioned around town to make it look like they had just been parked and that the operator is still in the old telephone building, or the police have parked their vehicle to watch that people follow the speed limit posted nearby. These people realize that those that drive down there to take pictures are buying gas at the towns that still remain (but are struggling) as well as meals and overnight accommodation. The highway they are on is well known as Ghost Town Trail and there are a number of Americans that are now making the trip just to see/experience it."

Thanks for sending the above Pam. It’s very articulate & even-handed. As well as putting your own case very well you also put a good case for all photographers who want to shot similar scenes now & in the future. I sincerely hope you can get some kind of closure to this episode. It’s so unfair on you.

That it is

At first I thought this was so incredibly stupid that I couldn't believe what I was reading.

On the net here's a sampling of pictures others have taken there.

1.Flicker 2.Ghost Towns of Canada 3.Google Images 4.[General search engine hits]{http://www.google.com/search?q=Robsart+%2B+photographs&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_enCA176CA222) Dates on the pictures show damage has been there for a long time.....I am arguing with a person who is lying through her teeth.

Some show the windows broken, a door open, etc. I ran into locals that live there.....I should really demand that privatelandownerer show proof of ownership at the time of my being there (again no laws were broken anyway so it is really a mot point).

I really think she/he has been away from Robsart for a long time and is unaware of what is happening. The locals there are also moving abandoned vehicles around.

I really hate being defensive for something as idiotic as this.
