Google_Views sucks! on November 5, 2011

This is really nice - I like but have two suggestions:

a) I would have appreciated a greater size of it so details can be seen b) I think the horizon is tilted. It is less than 1° (~0.7), but visible, and the boardwalk on the right increases the effect.

But nevertheless: a real beauty!

Greetings, Erhard

Erhard, This is one of my early photos. My interest in photography (now 2 yrs old)and my efforts are pretty well documented when you look at my collection of photos posted to Panoramio. My growth as a photographer is clearly illustrated. Folks like yourself here at Pamnoramio and at the SOAphoto website where I am also a participant have offered advice that has helped me improve. Some of my early photos make me shudder. They are crooked, cockeyed and otherwise in need of help. The size of my early photos were to small, but I am also amazed at how large some peoples pictures are. Somewhere in the Panoramio forum someone mentioned that 1000 pixels on the longest side of their photos was their preferred size for Panoramio and I have since adopted that rule of thumb myself. My dilemma is do I take down and redo the photos that I can improve even though they are my most viewed and popular photos or do I leave them up because people seem to like them. Again this comes back to the educated eye. People tend to gravitate to color and content more than anything else. Actually just writing this and the events of this past week seem to be answering my question. Two days ago I sold my first photo to a Nationally Published magazine. I should try to look more professional and eliminate all of the mistakes I can find. Thank you Erhard for your support. It's criticism and help like yours that allows me to grow as a photographer and I do realize that if there were not a nugget of "good" in my work that it would just be passed by. So I also see the positive in every critical comment people make. Again, thank you.

Yes, I agree, and I have made the same experience myself - I have been on PA since three years ago, and have received helpful feedback throughout that time. The early pics are nice as they are associated witrh fond memories, but can't keep up with the younger ones. I have reposted several of my pictures, especially some HDRs.
