It was reported in the Herald-Sun newspaper in Jan, 2010, that Ken Lay, Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner (Road Traffic) - that's right, the top traffic policeman in the state - was photographed by a speed camera, for doing 80km/h in this 70 zone. He was fined $245 and lost 3 demerit points. The interesting thing about that, is that prior to this it was a 100km/h zone, so why was he travelling at 83km/h anyway (They take 3km/h an hour off the actual speed, when using technical equipment to record the speed)? Why wasn't he doing 100km/h, bearing in mind that was the speed limit before he reached Tooborac?
