dick&herma: It send us to imagine: The son and the daughter went to live in the city. Should they be happier there? Your shot is very cultural and sentimental. Besides, beautiful !! Flavio

Thank you Flavio! This picture was taken in 1995. The ruins are that of the small mountain-village of Niochori on the island Lefkada. The village was almost abandoned except for a few older people. Nature was slowly taking over control! Greetings from Holland.

Viele Grüsse, May

Hi May! Thanks for your nice comment on this one. The houses really fit in the landscape, probably because they were built with rocks and stones from the surrounding area. We were there 12 years ago and I am really curious how the place looks now! By then there were only a few houses in use by older people. Since this place is on the isle of Lefkada (Lefkas) it must have been spared from the fires. As far as I know the fires were only on the main land and the Pelopponesos. Several places that I visited in 2000 (like Olympia) were threatened or even, partially, burned down. Greetings, Dick.

I was on the Pelopones as well a few years ago. We seem to have seen the same places - in Ireland and Greece. Sooner or later we will meet and upload the same pictures here. ;-)
There was a fire on Korfu as well, as far as I know.
Greetings, May
