This is a really nice one. After looking a while it gets a psychedelic effect ;)

A great photo Marilyn. Nice to look at things from a different view point.

The plant looks similar to some of our mother-shield ferns (Polystichum), or Pneumatopteris or Leptopteris. Vinicius may be able to help - he's a fern taxonomist.

Cheers, Greg.

Thanks, all of you. And special thanks, Greg, for the leads. It's very common and I'll also check out my local sources.

It amazes me how we become creatures of habit. For years these have grown just north of the kitchen of our summer place but never in all this time had I looked down into one!!

Marilyn, this is wonderful, especially from the perspective you chose. HAPPY BIRTHDAY - the bouquet of flowers I just posted is FOR YOU! Cheers, Anne

Thanks, Anne, the beautiful start you gave to my day!

In all the years I'd enjoyed these ferns just outside the kitchen of our summer place, I'd never before looked down into a plant. I was amazed!

Thank you, Coco, and belated thanks, Markus. I was surprised by what I saw when I really looked at this familiar plant.

As shown the first time, seems to spiral, or a kaleidoscope
