Hi May, it's a wonderful photo. To you it's normal I think:) Regards, Jan
Thank you, Jan! Well, yes, it is somehow normal, but I still enjoy the view nearly every day! :)
Kind regards, May
Beautiful photos. My family emigrated from Sumiswald around 1850 and wound up in West Virginia, USA (it was still part of Virginia at that time). By the late 1800's they and many other Swiss formed a community by the name of Helvetia, which still exists.
I enjoyed the picture of the cows with their bells. A few years ago I was able to purchase a bell commissioned by Hans Haslebacher (also my son's name) which is absolutely magnificent and is considered a Haslebacher family treasure.
I promise that I will make it to Sumiwald someday soon to reconnect my roots.
t_haslebacher, how very interesting! Thank you for your story! If you click at the blue tag 'Sumiswald' just on the right of the conversations, you find 375 photos I made from Sumiswald and from the region, which belongs to Sumiswald.
Tell me, when you come here, I will be happy to show you the place of your ancestors. Best wishes, May
