Since this picture was taken, many years ago, millions of pounds have been spent on improving the beach. It is beautiful now.

Thanks for the update consider, I do remember I had to try hard to select a position to minimise the view of the construction work. I really liked the colours of the buildings in the early evening light. When the nights get a bit lighter I must pay another visit.
