According to Alexander Cunninham(Ladak page 2) Karakorum was also known as "Tsung Ling" or Onion Mountains due to. abundance of wild leeks.These "even as high as 17000 feet, are covered with wild leeks". The photograph is proof of Cunningham's assertion.This would be probably of immense interest to botanists probing the origin of the onion plant ,may even have commercial interest for the isolated communities living there.
