That's interesting! It looks very desolate and windy. Most mines I've seen are just a hole cut into a hill, not with such an elaborate stone house. I wonder if the miners of the past ever stopped to appreciate this scene on their way in to work.

Maybe they did, considering, that it meant to live, to feed a family; but on the other hand, the building stood for hardship, danger and heavy work. There are two other pictures of the mines and of an old forge nearby in the gallery (historic).

J'y étais plusieures fois, cher Domi! L'Irlande est un pays impressionant. Comme tu as bien remarqué, un pays avec des cailloux et de la verdure, souvent il y a des sites marécageux, où les gens coupe la tourbe et la séchent pour l'hiver.
