c1902 - Springburn Public Halls, on the street where my father lived as a young boy
Thanks, Tennscot - my Dad lived in Keppochhill Road, which leads from the left-hand-side of this photo sou'west towards the city from 1920 until 1939. The last time he was there was 1970, when his mother passed away - a short time after we left the UK for Australia...
I'm sure that, from the stories I've heard, he'll know of the local bookies through my grandfather's long-term patronage of their businesses.

The photograph upsets me, because the Council have allowed it to deteriorate. Itwas a beautiful building in the 1950's, when I used to go dancing there every week.
Sorry that you are affected by this image so, Avonspark - but I'm sure that your memories of this building as a 1950s dance hall will be happier and stronger than this image of it in its sad state of disrepair.
And, yeah, we have councils like that here in Australia, too...
