Thats the clyde auditorium not the science centre
Thanks for your feedback, Bigally. There was a significant time between visiting Glasgow and then posting this on panoramio - I've changed it now to show the building's correct name. Funny, but it reminded me of a certain building back 'ome 'ere in Sydney...
Or a knight in armour taking a rest. Nice shot!!
Did they copy the Opera House in Sydney? or vice-versa?
Thanks, Pannera, and twoyearstohim,
when Wikipedia tells us that "Many comparisons have been made (of the Auditorium) with the Sydney Opera House, although this was not the architects' inspiration for the design", I'm not so sure...
I think that we all subliminally get our inspirations from our surroundings. If he were still alive, for instance, we could ask George Harrison if, whilst writing "My Sweet Lord", he'd had The Chiffons "He's So Fine" playing away in the background at all...
But, I digress...
I am honoured that you, twoyearstohim, (I'm sure there's a story behind that name, by the way) have selected a few of my photos as your favourites.
The beach sculpture in Barcelona is just a beautiful setting on the shore of the Mediterranean just crying out to be photographed, and the setting at Stourhead, Wiltshire, England is a glorious "celebrated landscape garden and Palladian mansion" that we were fortunate enough to visit whilst a friend sang during a community-based "Festival of the Voice" there on May 2006.
If you appreciated the 'smart' sculpture in Sydney, then you may be interested in this snap -

If you don't mind a rather large hint of profanity, then I can explain the meaning behind another of my shopfront snaps for you.
This comment has gone on rather longer than I'd imagined - ah, well...
yes , great shot andrew, i spent 20 minutes trying to capture this, i didnt manage half decent shot, so well done, its an ok building, if only they had built it more askew, facing the river a bit there would have been much more interesting light on it throughout the day, i tried to lift and move it around but the security staff chased me away, .... Alan, a glaswegian
Thanks, Alan - some security staff have no sense of humour, do they?
I love it. Very beautiful place and excellent shot Best Wishes From Your Turkey-istanbul Friend Mustafa ERKEK
I know this building! This is clone Australia theatre :) Good.
Bummer! I passed through Glasgow without seeing this. Thanks for showing what I missed.
