The Antarctic equivalent of the "Grand Canyon"

Hi Mike,

Is the valley bottom here rock covered glacier? The flow from the left hand snow-field looks like the shape of a piedmont glacier.

Thanks,

Ian.

Yes that's right. There are several groups here looking at the motion of the "rock glacier" which is in the Mullins Valley part of BEacon Valley.

Take a look at http://www-radar.jpl.nasa.gov/glacier/Papers/RIGNOTTEXT_Beacon.pdf

I spent several weeks in Beacon Valley wondering what the view from the top of the hills looked like. Now I know. Thanks Mike!
