Just for fun.... this is my good friend John playing the pipes at a mutual friend's wedding.

I love the skirl of the bagpipes (I'm Scottish) but I know it grates on many. So, for a bit of fun, I tried to show that effect visually. (Sorry John, no disrespect!)

Hope you like it :)

Wow! I hear the music!!! Cheers!

highton-ridley, on July 16, 2007, said:

hey, thanks artwall :) ..although I love the music of the bagpipes, I can maybe understand that many people really dislike it.

...I actually can't look at the photo for very long, it really upsets my eyes. So if this is how it affects some people's ears, then I can understand why they don't like how they sound. lol :)

Hi, i like the sounds from bagpipes, because are the musical folk-instruments No1 in my country!

yaay!! ..and I've even got my own kilt in the tartan of my family (a sept of clan Oliver)... would love to learn to play the 'pipes but photography takes up all my creative time :)

Hi, highton-ridley! I be glad for you, but you must keep your familly tradition. Cheers!

Ha, Ha, Ha! You are big joker :))) Cheers!

Did you Photoshop that? It looks like you used two layers with the same image on it, one beneath with a radial blur filter, the other on top etched around the piper.

highton-ridley, on December 17, 2007, said:

Hi Chris, yes I used one of the inbuilt filters - a radial blur, as you say, on the background layer...

This effect is really interesting! Well done!! And thanks for telling how you made it - I never had such an idea (I'm still on photoshop beginner level). Worth to try out...

Bye!

PS: Bagpipes do sound funny for me indeed, but not disturbing - just strange. There is a techno-song that uses a bagpipe all the time, and I like that song! :-)

highton-ridley, on April 11, 2008, said:

Hey Sonstiges, glad you liked it :) What was the techno tune?

Sonstiges etc., on April 12, 2008, said:

Well the song is rather old (mid Nineties), but for me a classic! Perplexer - "Acid Folk"

Thnx Sonstiges - I remember a bagpipes mix from back then - I hoped it was the one you mentioned but unfortunately not :(
