The first home in Dallas, built in 1841 near this current site, by John Neely Bryan, founder of Dallas, who in 1846 organized Dallas County, the first and only post office in Dallas, and only post office in Dallas, under the Republic of Texas 1843-1846 and the first County Court House July 19, 1850.
