During the 1800's Main Street consisted of a freshwater reservoir which was filled with small fishes and Victoria Regia lillies. However in 1897 the reservoir in Main Street was filled up and converted into a walkway. It was named the Queen Victoria Promenade by the Mayor and Town Council(this area is now known as Main Street Avenue).
