I took this photo for Norrel. There were many more of these brand-new bikes, but I couldn't fit them all in. Even better, we walked by the speed-skating oval here just about the time Sven Kramer (NL) was winning the gold medal for the Men's 5000 m.

"Kramer won the 25th Olympic gold medal for a Dutch speedskater, matching Norway for second on the sport's all-time Olympic medal list, three behind the United States.

The Dutch have now won 76 of their 79 Winter Olympic medals in speedskating, the most lopsided one-sport ratio for any nation at the Olympic Games."

Ha-ha Guy! Sharp eye, as always. Actually, I found out that they are part of a bike-pool supplied to the Dutch team so that they can easily get back and forth to the not-all-that-nearby Heineken House where the Dutch are welcoming the world.

If I'd known these were free bikes we could have used them to get over there too. It was a long walk, and we'd already walked a fair way to get to the Oval, which turned out to be not where the beer and giant TVs were. Still, I got to see the outside of the Oval, which was nice.
